Proposal Crtiques

Proposal 1:
Strengths: The NY Times proposal provided a lot of details regarding their topic while introducing the problem. The proposal also provides a solution that will help solve the problem.
Weaknesses: The proposal does not really include a rationale for choosing this topic

Proposal 2:
Strengths: Introduces the problem, explains why it is important and gives a solution
Weaknesses: This proposal does not really relate to the audience? Does not address and shut down other solutions

Proposal 3:
Strengths: Introduces the solution and uses lots of references. Shuts down opponents
Weaknesses: Is not really audience oriented. Does not really argue for his proposed solution well, states other solutions a bit too much.

Speech proposal

My speech topic involves the fraternities and sororities at the University of Iowa. As of right now, a lot of the fraternities are suspended for violating school policies. I believe that policies are too. Strict and need to be changed even though my fraternity Delta Sigma Phi is not suspended. Greek life is a huge part of Iowa City because most fraternities are heavily involved in volunteering, fundraising and other things that help better the community. Without Greek life, the city would lose a valuable part of its community. The strict policies created by the University are destroying and hurting all of Greek life. The change in policy would require the policies set by the university to be less harmful to the fraternities. The following sources discuss the recent Greek life events https://www.thegazette.com/subject/news/education/university-of-iowa-suspends-nine-frats-accused-of-alcohol-policy-violations-20181010

Major Speech # 2

In this assignment, I need to write a speech to persuade the audience into believing that my solution to a problem that I will propose is the best solution. I have to convince the audience to be in line with what I think. I need to propose a solution to a problem that I will identify and convince the audience that something needs to be done.

Reflection on comments
The comments I wrote on my peer's papers could also apply to my paper for various reasons. For example, I talked about grammar on both my peer's papers. That could totally apply to my paper because I had loads of errors in terms of grammar. In addition to this, I talked about ways people could improve their gap. This can also be applied to my paper because my abstract did not discuss the gap at all. I need to fix some of my citations, my gap, and introduction. I could also do way better in terms of synthesis of the articles.
